stages of concern assessment
Through use of the Stages of Concern Questionnaire (Concerns Based Systems International), data has been collected on different groups in the school who will be affected in greater and lesser degrees by the move to a distributive leadership model. The survey was administered over the course of four days as a open invitation while encouraging several people participate as they represented the different groups who would be affected by the coming change. In the end, 26 people responded with group breakdowns as follows: four administrators, three Senior Team Leads, three teachers assigned to a Senior Team Lead next year, and fifteen teachers not assigned to a Senior Team Lead next year. This sample set is representative of the groups within the faculty and will serve as a good first measure of concerns. Repeating the survey again next year after implementation will be critical to gauge reactions and movement along the scale.

In analyzing the raw data from the survey, each stage of concern’s average was calculated for each individual completing the survey. Next, the individuals were given a group attribution and then the group’s stage of concern average was calculated. This data provides a high level snap shot of the four groups and a working profile.

Data Analysis
When analyzing the line associated with the building administrators, it is interesting to note that they line up very closely with teachers in the building on most levels, with a point or two in difference as to the intensity of their response.

Data Analysis
The Teacher Leader line of the graph closely mirrors the Administrators albeit without the dip at the personal stage (SO2). Clearly this group is similar to administrators in that they have received more training than the average teacher. All members of this group applied for the positions and will receive training over the summer in preparation for their new role. The data reflects this level of knowledge and concern with most responses averaging in the 3-4.8 range.
